Frances Sparkman Hughes passed away peacefully in Denver Hospice on November 21, 2024. She is survived by her husband Daniel Hughes, her four siblings, Raymond Sparkman and his wife Adele, John Sparkman, Elizabeth Sparkman, and Marie Baumunk, and many nieces and nephews, all of the area.
Fran was born in Norfolk, Virginia, in 1951. As the daughter of a Navy pilot, she lived in many places in the United States, finally settling with her family in Boulder, in 1962. She graduated from Boulder High School and the University of Colorado.
She met her high school sweetheart at Boulder High School where she was head cheerleader and he was a football star. Dan and Fran were married on June 1, 1974. They were married for fifty years.
Fran never had children of her own, but she devoted her life to her students at Sacred Heart, St. Louis, and St. Thomas More. Her students loved her, and she loved them. The amount of good she accomplished in her lifetime is incalculable.
