John was a quiet and kind man who may not have always been the life of the party, but he was someone you could always count on.
John grew up with his older sister, Martha “Marty” Bohlmann, who remained an important part of his life, as well as his two nieces Carrie and Brenda. In his younger years, John enjoyed playing baseball, a love that would continue in different ways throughout his life. He later graduated from trade school and built a life filled with hard work, dedication, and the things he loved most.
John’s greatest passions was horses. He was a true horseman, especially devoted to his Morgan horses. He traveled all over the country showing them and earned numerous awards and medals for his dedication and accomplishments. He was also president of Circle J Regional Morgan Horse Shows, where he spent many years involved in the horse community. His horses were more than a hobby—they were a meaningful part of his life and something he took great pride in.
John was also a collector at heart. He found joy in collecting many things, including Star Wars and Star Trek memorabilia, Breyer horses, and coins. Among his special keepsakes was a 10- year anniversary baseball bat from his time working for the Colorado Rockies, signed and engraved with his name and presented to him on the field—a one-of-a-kind reminder of a chapter in his life that he was proud of.
Those who knew John will remember him not only for the things he loved, but for the person he was. He was quiet, dependable, kind, and genuine. He didn’t need a lot of words to show that he cared. He showed it by being there.
His memory will live on in the horses he loved, the treasures he collected, the stories shared by those who knew him, and, most of all, in the hearts of the people who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest peacefully, John. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
