Living by the mantra “I’ve Never Seen a Better Day”, John forged a path of joy, love and success by living with optimism and purpose. He never chose to be defined by kidney disease nor the cancer that ailed his body, but rather was humbled by the lessons that illness taught him. John lived life for others; he was known for always welcoming others with open arms and a warm heart, never missing an opportunity to do good.
John attended and graduated from the University of Denver in 1984 with his masters in finance. His time at DU was spent as a fraternity member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon which provided him an endless list of fond memories and lasting friendships.
His career was an extension of his fortitude. Immediately following his first kidney transplant he began at Boetcher & Co. as a Financial Advisor. Un-waivered by his personal trials, John tackled the challenges of work with enthusiasm. After ten successful years, he was given the opportunity to manage his peers at Painwebber and later as Complex Director at UBS. John’s leadership style and caring nature paved the way for years of local and nationwide recognition.
He never took life for granted and enjoyed all of his passions to the fullest. He surrounded himself with an amazing community of friends with whom he shared wonderful memories. It wasn’t rare to see him playing golf with his two boys, tending to his garden, or sitting on the porch sharing a glass wine with his wife and two dogs. Above all, he loved his family more than anything. John was a remarkable man, he will truly be missed.
He is survived by his wife, Erin Lester; sons, John Lester III and Connor Lester; parents, Ruth and John Lester Sr.; sister, Connie Lester; nephews, Mathew and Daniel. Preceded in death by a brother Jeffrey A. Lester.
