

John David Riddick, age 77, passed away on March 25, 2026. He was born on July 24, 1948, in Sunbury, North Carolina, to Dallas and Lucille Riddick, and later moved to Kewanee, Illinois, where he spent his formative years. John was one of many siblings: Joseph, Mary, Dallas Jr., Luella, Jerry, Michael, Edward, Martin, Brian and Timothy.
A gifted athlete, John earned multiple scholarship offers in both track and football. His remarkable speed earned him the nickname “Bunny”. He went on to attend Illinois State University, where he played college football as a running back. His passion and talent even led him to try out for the Denver Broncos.
John was equally dedicated to his education. He earned a degree in Psychology from Illinois State University and later completed his master’s degree in clinical psychology at the University of Colorado Boulder.
While in college, John met Patricia. Together, they raised two children, Dallas and Kari. He was a proud grandfather to Kaleb, Samuel, and William, who brought him immense joy.
Professionally, John worked as an auto broker, where his natural charisma, honesty, and easygoing personality helped him build lasting relationships. He had a gift for conversation and made friends wherever he went.
John will be remembered as a smart, funny, and kind-hearted man whose presence made a lasting impact on everyone he met. His legacy lives on through his family, his friendships, and the many lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed.
