John was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1931 to Myrle and Lottie Sellers. He moved to Colorado as a young child. He married Peggy (Fitzgerald) in 1950. They had two children Dean and Becky.
He grew up working on ranches and various jobs. Worked at Gates Rubber Company a short time and then began a 31 year career in telecommunications at Mountain Bell. This took the family to Limon, Colorado Springs and back to Denver. John and Peggy spent two years in Iran working for American Bell International. Retiring in 1983, his next adventure was to operate his own business installing phone systems and selling real estate. He loved being in the mountains camping, fishing, and hunting. He always enjoyed his family and was always ready to lend a helping hand. A man of many skills and wisdom.
He was active in his church, serving in many roles and was instrumental in the planning and operation of a beautiful columbarium.
He was a gentleman and a strong leader. His leadership was by serving others. To know him was to love him. We will miss his jokes, his smile, and his kindness.
