Born in Wichita, Kansas, on August 18, 1944, John moved to Colorado with his family in 1945. He spent over 30 years in dedicated service to the State of Colorado, leaving a lasting impact through his work and character. After retiring, John and his beloved wife, Jacquelyn Junile Whitehurst (Meyer), shared a passion for traveling the world together, creating a lifetime of memories.
John is survived by his brother Paul Kenneth Whitehurst, his daughter Jill Denise Jones, and his cherished grandchildren Maverick and Mackenzie Jones. He was preceded in death by his wife Jacquelyn and his son Kenneth Mark Whitehurst.
A Celebration of Life will be held on
Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m.
at Olinger Funeral, Cremation & Cemetery – Chapel Hill,
in the Cremation Garden.
A small reception will follow at 6754 Serena Ave, Castle Pines.
