Joe was born July 2, 1923 in Kit Carson, CO to parents Daniel Louis Stallsmith and Charlotta Adeline (Cook) Stallsmith. He had 2 brothers, George Louis and Ralph Eugene as well as his two sisters, Jessie Louise and Ruth Valentine. He did not have any children but was “Uncle Joe” to all, especially to his brother George’s kids.
He had 32 years in the Federal Service including 5 years for the Army, 22 years with Civil Engineers at the Air Force Academy managing water and wastewater and retired at age 65 after 7 years at the South Adams Water District. Joe created the Palmer Lake Sanitation District and had the honor of the district building named after him.
Joe outlived all his siblings, his wife Betty Jean (Erickson) Stallsmith and 3 girlfriends Janet, Lavern and Lillian. He is survived by his nephew Laurence Smith and niece Doris “Dodie” Henry.
A visitation for Joseph will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121, followed by a graveside service from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM.
