It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kristi Lee Daugherty on November 6, 2025 at the age of 76. Kristi will be remembered for her caring and compassion towards others. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel seen, valued, and supported. Kristi believed that caring for one another was the greatest purpose we have. She lived that belief every day through acts of generosity and the countless small moments of thoughtfulness that defined them.
Kristi’s was a third generation Colorado native growing up in Englewood. As a child, Kristi loved horses. She even had her own horse, Miss Misty; she enjoyed her frequent rides. Kristi worked for Guys & Dolls (a furniture company in Englewood) for several years and she also worked as a caregiver for a retirement home.
Kristi met Jim Daugherty through a singles group, and they clicked. In 1979 they married and settled down in Englewood, Colorado. As a couple, Kristi and Jim loved to take walks and eat out (everyone knew them at the Breakfast Queen). Kristi enjoyed spending time with her friends playing canasta. Kristi loved to cook, in particular she liked to host for Broncos games and Thanksgiving. Jim and Kristi appreciated the ability to occasionally travel with their favorite destination being Belize. One of the biggest joys of Kristi & Jim’s lives together was spending time with their family. They were very generous allowing several of them to live in their home at times of need. Their marriage lasted for over 44 years before Jim’s passing in June 2024.
Kristi was preceded in death by her parents, John and Beverly Simon, her husband, Jim Daugherty, and her stepdaughter, Frances. She is survived by her stepdaughters Lyn, Lori, Rhonda, and Marci, 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Kathe and Rick Knoll and their 4 children (Mike, Tammy, Kari, Emily), her brother, Kent Simon, and his son, Scott Simon, and her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Diane Daugherty.
Thanks go out to all the supportive angels over the last few years…you know who you are!
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, reflecting Jim’s struggle with that disease.
A celebration of life service will be held on December 13, 2025 at 2:30 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. Please RSVP with name and number in group to [email protected] or 303-815-4555.
