It is with profound sadness that the family of Larry LaVerne Caldwell announce his peaceful passing on February 14, 2022, at the age of 84. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Sharon Kay Caldwell; children: Ryan Caldwell (wife, Janet Caldwell) and Reid Caldwell (wife, Kelly Caldwell); grandchildren: Brooke Taylor (husband, Samuel Taylor) and Bradley Caldwell, and great-grandchildren Aria Taylor, Weston Taylor, and Nolan Taylor; and sister, Karen Reilly (husband, Ed Reilly).
Larry was born in a farm house near Perry, Iowa to Maurice and Mildred Caldwell. Larry became a Christian in 1953 and graduated from Ames High School in 1956. Larry married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Jones in May of 1959 before being drafted by the Army in 1961. He was honorably discharged from the Army as a Specialist 4th class in 1963. The following year, Larry and Sharon moved to Denver, Colorado, and Larry began working for the Post Office where he remained until retiring as a letter carrier in May 2001. Attending church and serving others was an important part of Larry’s life. He and Sharon often sang together, and he led both children’s and youth ministries. His retirement years were spent traveling and going to high school basketball games with Sharon.
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
