With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Layla “Parker” Cooper, age 17, of Centennial, who passed away at home on May 9, 2026, one day before her 18th birthday. Parker was born on May 10, 2008, in Parker.
Parker was the beloved youngest daughter of Khyyam and Cheryl Cooper, and a cherished sister to her sisters, Rachel and Raeannon, and her brother, Khyyam. She also leaves behind her best friend, Mikayla, and her beloved dog, Shakira, who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Parker attended Arapahoe High School, where she was known for her quiet and gentle nature. Though reserved at first, those who took the time to know her quickly discovered her kind heart, warm spirit, deep compassion for others, and her unique sense of humor that could unexpectedly make people laugh and feel at ease. She especially loved choir and art class, where she was able to express her creativity and passion.
Parker was preparing to graduate on May 23, 2026, and was excited about beginning a new chapter in life after graduation. She looked forward to the future with hope, creativity, and curiosity about where life would take her.
Parker was a gifted and creative artist who loved drawing, painting, and making hand sculptures. Art was one of the ways she connected with people and expressed herself. She often created artwork and mailed it to people she met online simply as gifts, wanting nothing in return except to make others smile. Her kindness and generosity reached far beyond those who knew her personally.
Music was also a major part of Parker’s life. She created and produced music with her band, “Swagger,” contributing both vocals and production to many of their songs. Her creativity and talent continue to live on through the music she shared with the world on Spotify.
Parker also had an incredible talent for creating custom fursuits and was an active member of the fursuit community. She had a beloved character named “Flint,” which she had commissioned and proudly wore to conventions and gatherings that brought her immense happiness. She especially loved attending fursuit conventions and the friendships and sense of belonging they brought into her life.
She also absolutely loved concerts and live music. Parker always dreamed of attending multiple shows from her favorite artists and found joy, excitement, and freedom in live performances and shared musical experiences.
She had a deep love for animals and shared a special connection with them. Animals seemed to naturally trust and comfort her, and being around them brought her peace and happiness. Above all, Parker adored her dog, Shakira, who was her constant companion and one of the greatest joys in her life.
Parker also loved to travel and experience the beauty of the world around her. She visited 25 states throughout her life, with the beach always holding a special place in her heart. She loved the outdoors, hiking, and watching sunsets. She was a free spirit with a tender heart, someone who quietly carried warmth, creativity, and love wherever she went.
Though her time here was far too short, Parker’s impact on those who knew her will never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family, friends, and everyone blessed to know her.
