Leonard John Blumenshine, age 89, of Aurora, CO passed away on Friday, September 7th, 2018 at Denver Hospice. Leonard was born February 2nd, 1929. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jean (Martin) Blumenshine, his parents, Katherine (Befus) and John Blumenshine. Leonard is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Joan (Rupert) Blumenshine of Aurora, CO; four children, Donita (Blumenshine) Fischer and husband Robert Fischer of Thornton, CO, Pamela (Blumenshine) McMenus of Richland, WA, John Blumenshine of Raleigh, NC, and Kevin Blumenshine of Erie, CO; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; his sister, Shirley (Blumenshine) Hollenbeck and husband Andrew Hollenbeck of Cheyenne, WY; and other loving family and friends.
Len Blumenshine was a dedicated husband, father and had an abundance of love for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Len served in the Navy from 1948-1973. He retired as a Lieutenant after serving in 2 wars. Throughout Len’s lifetime his passions included; gardening, painting, pottery, and golfing. He was a sensitive man with many talents. Len will be dearly missed by his family, and friends.
A visitation and viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121. A funeral service for Leonard will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, September 24th, 2018 at Redeemer Temple, 3701 W 64th Ave, Arvada, CO 80003. Following immediately after will be a celebration of life luncheon in the fellowship hall. A committal service will begin at 1:15 pm Monday, September 24th, 2018 at Fort Logan National Cemetery: staging area C, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236.
