Lillian Estelle Mee, age 96, of Parker, CO passed away on Sunday, October 12, 2025. She was born on March 18th, 1929, in Roggen (44 miles north-east of Denver), the daughter of Daisy and John G. Gettman.
Lillian’s childhood was spent in Roggen with her siblings, John, Robert, and Florence. The family later moved to Globeville in Denver, where sister Carol was born. The Gettman siblings’ relationship was exemplary, laying the groundwork for a tightly knit, loving, extended family. In 1947, Lillian graduated from Manual Training High School, and also met the love of her life, Thomas Mee. They married on September 4th, 1948.
Lil and Tom, together with the Jim and Marylou Mee family, purchased 56 acres on Parker Road in 1958 where they built their new homes and a carnation greenhouse, and raised their families. As well as raising 4 boys, which involved 4-H and Cub Scouts, Lil worked in the Monarch Greenhouse. She was a member of the Women's Volunteer Firefighters of Parker (as an EMT) for 7 years, and developed the street mapping used by the department. She was committed to community service and activities at Ave Maria Catholic Church, and never lost her passion for joining her siblings to hunt for special rocks and arrow heads, and gathering pine cones to make Christmas wreaths. She and Tom were active members of the North Jeffco gem and mineral club.
After the sons were grown, Lillian traveled frequently with family to Alaska and internationally to Egypt, Turkey, South America, Italy, Ireland and Spain. Tom and Lil celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary before Tom passed in 2017. Lillian passed peacefully at her Parker home with family present.
Survivors include; her sons Thomas A. Mee and Cheryl McDermott, Ronald Mee and Sue Bruha, Richard Mee, and David Mee; grandchildren Lisa and Jeremy Larsen, Thomas M. Mee and Amy Bryant; sister Carol Hamilton, and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents John and Daisy Gettman; her brothers John and Robert; and her sister Florence.
