Linda Keith Hueston Sawyer was born October 9, 1933, in Atwood, Kansas, the daughter of Gerald Keith Hueston and Mildred Marian Mather. As a child, she lived in Craig, Colorado where her father was a pharmacist. She graduated from East High School in Denver in 1951. While in high school, Linda was active on student council committees. She was an accomplished pianist as well.
Linda married William Ezel Sawyer on October 12, 1952. Their courtship had begun on the ski slopes of Colorado. They had three children- Marcia Delynn Sawyer, Holly Suzanne Sawyer and Michael William Sawyer.
Bill became a Master Electrician and with Linda’s skill in running the office, they had a very successful business together- Sawyer Electric Service. Linda was also a homemaker and a superb cook.
With Linda’s help, Bill was active in Masonry and served as Worshipful Master of Central City Lodge No. 6 in 1976. In 1975-1976, Linda and Bill were Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron of Loyalty Chapter No. 145 Order of the Eastern Star. Linda served the Colorado Grand Chapter of Eastern Star as the Grand Representative to the State of Florida. She and Bill were also active in Amaranth.
Linda enjoyed many activities and avocations throughout her life. She was a very talented pianist. She was very outgoing, loved to make people laugh and was a skilled hostess for many gatherings of friends. She also enjoyed making ceramics. Linda and Bill together enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing and scuba diving.
In the late 1980’s after the sudden passing of their son Michael, Bill and Linda sold their home in Arvada and spent seven years touring the United States, Canada and Mexico in an RV, making close friends wherever they went. They eventually made their home in Buchanan Dam, Texas. There, they were active in the local Masonic Organizations.
Linda passed away March 31, 2006 after a brief illness, just a month after they had returned from attending the funeral of Bill’s brother Jim in Colorado. Linda was survived by daughters Marcia Wilson and Holly Scott, grandsons Reuben Wilson, Luke Wilson and Bruce Wilson, great-grandchildren Emily Wilson, Dominik Moore-Wilson and Alex Moore-Wilson, sisters-in-law Frances Reed and Barbara Cox, sister-in-law Ruth Sawyer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
