Lois Jean Maybee peacefully passed from this life on November 16, 2025, at 1:00 a.m., at Someren Glen Care Community in Centennial, Colorado. Just a few months earlier, she joyfully celebrated her 100th birthday, surrounded by friends and family who traveled from across the country to honor her remarkable life.
Lois was born in Enid, Oklahoma, and raised in Fairview before moving with her family to California. She attended Biola Bible College for one year, leaving to care for her father when he fell seriously ill. Her Christian faith, rooted deeply in her youth, became the foundation and guiding light of her entire life.
She married her husband, William Maybee, with whom she raised four children. Together, they pioneered multiple churches throughout California—William preaching while Lois offered her musical gifts in worship. Music was one of Lois’s greatest joys and expressions of faith. She played the violin, accordion, piano, and organ, often performing solos, supporting choirs, and encouraging her children to develop their own musical talents. Later in life, she continued this passion through her work with the Celebrant Singers Ministries.
Outside of her ministry, Lois enjoyed a long career as an administrative assistant in several legal offices and public departments. Always energetic and eager to connect with people, she later became a beloved Walmart greeter well into her 90s. She finally relinquished her car keys at 99—an enduring testament to her independence and spirit.
Lois’s greatest legacy is her family. She is survived by her four children, Marilyn, William, Clarion, and Sonya; her 14 grandchildren—Deva, Tabitha, Tamara, Amanda, Jason, Kelly, Chelsea, Mindy, Thomas, Alexander, Matthew, Jesse, Nicholas, and Elizabeth; and her 21 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
Lois lived a life of unwavering faith, steadfast love, and joyful purpose. Those who knew her will remember her music, her warmth, and the grace with which she served others. Hers was truly a life well lived.
Psalm 91:16
With long life will I satisfy him,
and shew him my salvation.
