A fine lady, indeed, Lola passed away peacefully on April 29, 2024. She leaves behind a loving family, including her children Paul Reitenbaugh, Lisa Flugstad, Joseph Reitenbaugh, her loving daughter in law Tarra Bolinger, and a legacy of 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren include Bekah (Jerry) Kuehn, Sarah (Jeremy) Moseley, Tyler Reitenbaugh, Elizabeth Reitenbaugh, Melissa (Ryan) Martin, Michael Flugstad, and Brianna Reitenbaugh.
Born in Brush CO in 1937, Lola grew up on a homestead farm with her Mother outside of Greeley, where she developed a strong work ethic and a love for nature. She attended a one-room schoolhouse, graduating with a strong foundation for her future. Her passion for music shone bright, as she played the accordion with enthusiasm and taught others to do the same. Teaching was very important to her and she enjoyed teaching a small accordion band.
Lola met her husband, George N Reitenbaugh, while working at a music store and attending college. Together, they built a life filled with love, music, and adventure. They raised three children together and nurtured a menagerie of animals on their homestead, including sheep, horses, goats, dogs, cats, domestic rabbits, and chickens. Lola cherished the local wildlife and delighted in the annual visits from hummingbirds, songbirds, deer, rabbits, and squirrels.
As a devoted mother, Lola prioritized her family's well-being and supported their every endeavor. She was a constant presence in her grandchildren's lives, watching over them with love and care and visiting twice a year her out of state grandchildren. In her later years, Lola and her husband danced their way across the United States, square dancing and polka dancing in famous halls, visiting American legacy locations far and wide while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
A teetotaler and non-smoker, Lola prioritized her health and well-being. With her husband, camper, and two beloved Pomeranian dogs by her side, she explored new horizons, capturing countless memories through her amateur photography. Politically engaged and news-savvy, Lola stayed informed and active, always seeking knowledge and making sure to vote.
Her green thumb and love of nature flourished in her annual vegetable garden, iris garden, and vibrant porch flowers. When relaxing, she enjoyed TV favorites like The Big Bang Theory, Dancing with the Stars, and Andy Griffith Show. Above all, Lola devoted herself to her family, showering them with love, time, and energy. Her beautiful legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched.
The family would like to thank the staff of Someren Glen for the professional care and love they gave Lola in her last months.
A celebration of Lola's life will take place on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Olinger Chapel with a Reception to include lunch at 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121 (main: 303.771.3960).
