Luella (Lu) Yaley peacefully passed away at 9:25 pm November 2, 2021. She was born on January 29, 1932 during a winter blizzard in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated with honors from Gering (NE) High School and completed a business course at Scottsbluff College. She married her high school classmate, Tom Yaley, and they shared 65 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom, her parents Glenn and Margaret Haiston, her brother Tom Haiston, and her son-in-law Anthony Corso. Lu worked many years in Denver, Colorado as an Executive Secretary for both Christ the King Lutheran church and for Lincoln National Life Insurance Company. But she especially loved her hospital volunteer work, serving as head of the Porter Hospital Volunteer Association. She was an avid sports fan spending many years volunteering for the Southwest Denver Little League (baseball), listening to Denver Bears baseball games at home on her radio, and every Sunday cheering on her beloved Denver Broncos.
Lu leaves behind her daughters Carole Yaley Corso of Denver, CO, and Diane Yaley Knox of Medford, OR; her son Thomas J. Yaley, Jr. of Littleton, CO; son-in-law Scott Knox; daughter-in-law Christine Yaley; sister-in-law Patricia Haiston; grandchildren Ava Yaley, Cole Yaley, and Chelsea North; and great-granddaughter Luella North Casebier; many loved nephews and nieces; and her cherished and beloved dog, Daisy Belle.
Lu had a kind, generous and tender soul. She was always friendly, accommodating, and had a smile for everyone. She devoted herself to raising her children, always putting their needs ahead of her own. She was a wonderful Mom always sharing her wisdom, support, friendship, and love. She created countless happy family memories and always made birthdays and holidays special. She touched so many lives in her lifetime - she will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor can be made to the Rescue Ranch - Kito Fund located in Yreka, CA, the Rogue Valley Manor Foundation in Medford, OR, or the American Heart Association.
