Margaret "Peggy" Anne Cimburek

Margaret (Peggy) Anne Cimburek, 90, passed away surrounded by family on August 19, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, at Holly Creek Retirement Community, 5500 East Peakview Ave., Centennial, CO 80121. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Cimburek, and is survived by her children and their spouses: Greg Cimburek; Susan Cimburek and William Powell; Anne and John Groton; and her grandchildren, Zachary Gehan, Quinn Gehan, Peter Groton and Missy Seiberlich, Charles Groton, and Joseph Groton.

Peggy’s roots were in Iowa, where she was born to Arthur and Katherine (McHugh) Bird. She grew up in several small towns with her brothers, David and Michael, and attended the University of Iowa, where she earned the first of several degrees in education. After marrying, she and Jerry moved to Kansas City, established their family, and eventually relocated to Centennial, Colorado. Wherever she went, Peggy made lifelong friends.

Peggy was a loved and respected leader during her career with the Cherry Creek School District. Her work there contributed to significant advances in teaching in classrooms and media centers. She continued that work as a volunteer long after she retired.

Peggy was known for her quick intelligence: she read the paper every day and loved talking politics; she was a lifelong learner who traveled overseas with family and friends; she held season tickets to the symphony, opera, and theater, and a long-time member of the art museum. At the same time, she had a competitive spirit that shone through in her prowess at bridge and her ability to armchair quarterback the Broncos game with the best of them. Most of all, she was known as a kind person who enjoyed a good conversation.

The highlight of her life was her family, who she loved and cared for with all her heart.
