Margery Joan Lillie

1932-2016

Born June 10, 1932, on a farm near the town of Leighton, Mahaska County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Leonard Peter and Jennie (vande Voort) Valster. Marge was the youngest of five girls. The family moved into the city of Oskaloosa, Iowa, when Marge was 13 years of age. She was the only family member to graduate from high school. At the age of 19, she started work as a nurse’s aide at Mahaska County Hospital, Oskaloosa, Iowa. Marge continued as a nurse’s aide in hospitals in Iowa and Colorado, retiring from Porter Memorial Hospital in 1998. On December 16, 1955 Marge married James Lillie in the First Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Three children were born to the union, Jennifer Joan, Irvin Allan and Barbara Rose.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and daughter, Barbara. She is survived by one sister, Esther Dye of Omaha, Nebraska; husband, Jim; several nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Margery entered eternal rest on December 29, 2016.

A Memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm, Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Columbine United Church, 6375 S Platte Canyon Rd, Littleton, Colorado, 80123, with inurnment to follow at 2:00 pm at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, 6601 S Colorado Blvd, Centennial, Colorado, 80121. There will be a Celebration of Life reception from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, following inurnment, at the Lillie Residence, 6912 S Dexter St, Centennial, Colorado, 80122.
