

Margie was born in Hale Center, Texas on Dec. 29,1925 to Arnett Carey “A.C." Preston and Docia Fay Preston (née Terrell). A few years later, the family moved to Big Spring, Texas where she grew up with her two sisters and one brother. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1943. Margie enjoyed playing instruments and her choir performances, her many pets, and learning to sew and cook from her mother.
After graduation, she worked at the Air Force base in Big Spring. Then she transferred to Buckley AFB in Denver, Colorado and moved there with her best friend. Margie met William Weller in Denver and they were married in 1949. They had two daughters. The family moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1963. Margie and Bill divorced in 1971, but eventually became friends.
Margie worked for many years at Arapahoe County Social Services where she worked as a stenographer, and later, as an assistant to the D.A. She was very independent and lived in her own condo until she was in her 90s. She passed away at the age of 99 at Holly Heights Care Center in Denver.
Margie is survived by daughters Kathleen (William) and Janelle (Larry), 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Melba Sykes, Quepha Lewis and Carl Preston and her grandson, Michael Hunter.
