Marilyn Mae Grasmick Bayens, 77, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away from an extended illness on April 25, 2025. Born on February 16, 1948, in Lincoln, Nebraska, Marilyn was the daughter of Reuben Grasmick and Dorothy Parker. She grew up in Denver and attended South High School.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother whose greatest passion in life was her family.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Bayens. Marilyn and Norm recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary—a testament to their enduring love and commitment. She is also survived by her sons Jason Bayens (fiancée Maria Nagel), Jeremy Bayens (wife Cari Bayens), and Justin Marie (wife Lisa Marie); and by her beloved grandchildren: Brielle Bayens (23), Carys Bayens (21), Jackson Bayens (20), Colton Bayens (17), Rhyann Marie (18), and Adreanne Marie (16).
She was preceded in death by her sister Barbara Struzziero and is survived by her siblings Carol Johnson and Stephen Grasmick.
Marilyn loved her church community and enjoyed volunteering with the women of Heritage Eagle Bend. She was also a proud member of Heritage Eagle Bend’s Red Hat Society. Marilyn loved playing golf—especially with her friends in the Divot Divas. She never met a stranger, had a sharp sense of humor, and was both strong-willed and full of warmth. She loved to travel—and she loved to laugh. Her laughter was contagious and filled every room with joy.
A funeral service will be held at Eagle Bend Community Church on Sunday, May 18, 2025, immediately following the regular service at 10:00 a.m. She will be cremated, and her ashes will be buried at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Centennial, Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Eagle Bend Community Church in her memory.
