Mark Welle, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his family by his side on October 8, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born in Denver, Colorado, on January 19, 1948, to Richard and Eleanor Welle, as the oldest of three children.
A proud 5th-generation Colorado native, Mark grew up in a family that valued hard work and family connections. As a young boy, he spent many happy hours working on his uncle’s ranch, an experience that fostered his strong work ethic. He graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1966, as part of the school’s first graduating class. He went on to attend Western State College, where he developed a love for the Gunnison Valley—an area where he and his family spent many cherished summers over the years.
Mark met his wife Barbara in early 1968, and they were married on October 26 of that year. Their love story blossomed with the birth of their son, Mark Jr., in 1969, and later, their daughter, Andrea, in 1973. Mark and Barbara enjoyed almost 57 years of love together. Above all, Mark's greatest joy was his family, and everything he did in life was for their well-being and happiness.
Mark’s career began with jobs at Data Products and Majestic Building Supplies before he landed at Xerox, where he worked for many years, climbing the ranks to become a Vice President. His dedication to his work provided his family with a comfortable and fulfilling life, with moves to San Diego and Virginia before finally returning home to Colorado in 1996. After retiring from Xerox, Mark sought a new challenge and purchased a small manufacturing company in Denver. This endeavor gave him the opportunity to work closely with his son and son-in-law, forging a deeper bond with his family in a small business setting. Mark and Barbara also enjoyed this semi-retirement by traveling and camping, both alone and with friends and family, during their free time.
Mark was a proud grandfather to four grandsons—Mark III (Katheryn), Connor, Will, and Jack—and was especially overjoyed to become a great-grandfather in May 2025 to his precious great-granddaughter, Virginia. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he treasured every moment spent with his grandchildren.
Mark was kind and cheerful, always ready with a dad-joke or witty pun. He was a man full of wisdom, always willing to offer advice and encouragement to those around him. As a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he made an indelible impact on the lives of all who knew him. His warmth, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara; their son, Mark (Bernadette); their daughter, Andrea (Bill) Fowler; four grandsons, Mark III (Katheryn), Connor, Will, and Jack; and great-granddaughter Virginia. He is also survived by his sister, Catherine, and his brother, Rick, along with many nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eleanor Welle.
Mark’s legacy of love, laughter, and wisdom will continue to shine through the lives of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Castle Oaks Church, 826 Park St., Castle Rock, CO 80109. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lymphoma Research Foundation in his memory.
