

Catherine was born March 22, 1923, in Shannon, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Robert L. and Pearl West Robbins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin W. Hanstein, three brothers, Dr. Cecil W. Robbins, Conrad L. Robbins, Burkett Robbins and a sister Alliene Robbins Hooks.
She is survived by her three sons, Gary W. Hanstein, Guffey, CO; Kenneth L. (Patricia) Hanstein, Centennial, CO; and Duane E. (Pamela) Hanstein, Denver Colorado; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth (Ray)Tullos, Denver, CO; Natalie Hanstein Whitehead, Firestone, CO; Grant (Laura) Hanstein, Parker, CO; Janice (Erich) Robinowitz, Littleton, CO; Laura (Greg) Krom, Englewood, CO; Christopher Hanstein, Snowmass, CO; Nicholas (Dezirae) Hanstein, Westminster, CO; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Catherine was employed as a stenographer, records clerk, and general office work 1942-1951 for the US Government – Denver Federal Center, Lakewood CO; and as a registration and records clerk, and also a receptionist in the counseling office 1962-1983 for Denver Public Schools.
Catherine loved to garden and go shopping. She was a very good cook. She provided many delicious meals and summertime family picnics in the back yard. In their retirement years she and Ed traveled often with tours to Yellowstone National Park, to Arizona, Florida, Palm Springs, Canyon Lands and Utah, several Alaskan cruises; also to Hawaii, and the South Pacific to Fiji and Tonga.
Catherine and Ed were long-time members of Bethany Lutheran Church of Englewood, CO where Catherine also taught Sunday school while the boys were young. In later years she also volunteered in the church office.
Funeral services will be August 20, 2021 at 10:00am, officiated by Pastor Nate Preisinger, at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121 with interment to follow at Olinger Chapel Hill Cemetery
