Mary was born in McPherson, Kansas on November 9, 1936, to Jonas and Martha Stucky, She was raised in a strong Mennonite family, and her Christian faith was a foundational part of her long life. Mary was first and foremost a devoted wife and mother with family being her highest priority.
Mary loved and served hundreds of others through her first career as a Registered Nurse at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KS, and later as a career counselor at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, KS. Her service to others continued in Mary’s volunteer life where she was active in countless church roles, including years of work as a Congregational Care Minister at the Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, KS.
Mary was blessed with an oversized heart in a small package. She was constantly in motion — working, serving, caring for others. She leaves us with fond memories of her warmth, wisdom, curiosity and compassion. Mary will also be remembered by family and friends for her fun loving, sometimes unfiltered personality and sense of humor.
