Mary Margaret Engels, 92, died peacefully in her home on September 5, 2019. Born in Austin, a small town in western Colorado, she proudly received her B.A. in Business Administration from the University of Denver in 1949. It was at D.U. that she met a young man named William R. Engels, and the two were married not long afterward.
Mary Margaret always made her family her first priority, though she would have loved to pursue a future in semi-pro golf, bowling or card playing. A fierce competitor with all with whom she engaged in play, she was always up for a mad game of Sorry or gin rummy to whoop on her grandchildren or anyone else willing to contend. We all loved to play games with her; her spirit and ferocity, in addition to her quick wit and sharp mind to the very end, are already missed terribly by all of us.
Mary Margaret is survived by her five proud children: John (Carla), David (Catherine), Mary Ann Pebler (Richard), Bill (Cindy) and Susan Hill (Paul). Our large brood that gathered biennially for a treasured and fun reunion also included 12 grand children and 12 great grandchildren.
