Mary Cecelia (Foy) Kauffman, a longtime resident of Denver, CO passed away on November 29, 2020 at the age of 99. She was the oldest daughter of Hugh Francis Jr. and Margaret (Kuhn) Foy of Dalton, NE. She graduated from Dalton High School and Chadron State College, Chardon, NE. She taught elementary school in Wyoming and Nebraska before moving to Denver, CO in 1945 and marrying Gene W. Kauffman in 1947.
Mary was a member of the Church of the Risen Christ and its Silverado Club. If a friend or neighbor needed a ride to a doctor’s appointment or the grocery store, she happily volunteered to drive them. Over her lifetime, she volunteered for many charitable groups.
Mary enjoyed many different types of crafts including ceramics, sewing and knitting. Christmas holidays were a time for baking cookies to share with neighbors, friends, and family. For many years playing bridge and other card games were also a big joy for her. After her retirement, she and Gene traveled extensively and often visited family, relatives and friends across the country.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Gene, her parents, Brother Edward J. Foy (Bobbie) of Edmonds, WA and sisters LaVerne (Hank) Washauer of San Carlos, CA and Margaret Ann Foy of Denver, CO. She is the last of all the first cousins on both the Foy and Kuhn sides of the family.
She survived by her son Daniel F. Kauffman of Denver and a daughter Margaret Jean (Jerry) Clayville of Salisbury, MD, two granddaughters and two great grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews, and their families.
Her family appreciates the care, concern and respect she received from the staff and administration of Five Star Residences of Daytona Place and the Berkley Palliative Care and Hospice LLC.
