
Mary Elizabeth Killingsworth (Liz), age 93, passed away at her home in Lakewood, surrounded by her family on Thursday, July 13, 2017. She was born on December 3, 1923, an only child, in Denton, Texas to Samuel Chancellor and Hasseltine Selman. Liz went on to graduate from Southern Methodist University in 1948 with a degree in History and Sociology and received her Masters in Physical Education in 1958.
On July 4, 1948, she married Ike Killingsworth and together, they had two sons. Liz had two careers, teaching and real estate, and taught school in the Denver Public School System for 21 years. A real estate investor, she purchased mountain property in Morrison in 1972 and maintained her residential and commercial real estate license until 1980.
Always a lover of travel, Liz has been to Alaska, Panama, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Canada, the Soviet Union in 1975, Mexico, France, Italy, Turkey, Greece, England, Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, China, Thailand, and Singapore (just to name a few).
Survivors include her sons, Fred (Mary) and David (Yvonne) Killingsworth; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Killingsworth.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Liz touched are invited to Mile Hi Church, 9077 W Alameda Ave, Lakewood, CO at 3 pm, Monday, August 7, 2017, for Liz’s Memorial Service. Afterwards, the family will welcome everyone at the Morrison Holiday Bar, 403 Bear Creek Ave, Morrison, CO 80465 to reminisce, grieve, and celebrate Liz together. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Denver Hospice.
