Colorado. She was born on November 29, 1928 to the late Henry and Anna Mae
Chambers in Ignacio, Colorado.
Maxine attended Ignacio High School and moved to Denver, Colorado in 1946.
Her first job was as an Elevator Operator at the Brown Palace Hotel while she
attended night classes in business. She married Stanley Payne in 1948. They went
on to have five children, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren,
and fourteen great great-grandchildren. Maxine was also a foster mother.
Maxine retired from Gates Rubber Company, and along with her husband, moved
from Englewood to Chaparral Valley in Deer Trail, Colorado, until her husband
passed in 2010. She moved back to Englewood and enjoyed her children and
grandchildren and worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ at First Baptist Church of
Englewood, Colorado.
Maxine is pre-deceased by her parents, all her siblings, her daughter, Marjorie
Jacobs, and grandchildren; Bryan Dischner, Casandra Payne and great grandchild,
Nathan Bergene. She is survived by her daughter, Joanna Burke (Flake), sons Stan
Payne, Jr. (Phyllis), Dan Payne (Cathy), and John Payne.
Funeral and Burial will take place on Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery
at 6601 S. Colorado Boulevard, Centennial, Colorado 80121 on Thursday April 3,
2025 at 10:00am. Viewing will be Wednesday, April 2, 2025, 5:00-7:00pm.
The family would like you to join us for a celebration of Maxine’s life in the
Reception Hall at First Baptist Church of Englewood, 3190 South Broadway,
Englewood, CO 80113, between 1:00pm and 3:00pm.
