Michael, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away on September 12, 2026, at the age of 46. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado, in 1980 and was adopted by his parents, Randy and Mary, in 1981, beginning a lifelong journey as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Michael was a kind, loving, and generous person who cared deeply about others. He had a giving heart and was always willing to share his time, talents, and resources with those around him. He found joy in helping others and giving of himself, often without expecting anything in return. His compassion and generosity touched the lives of many who had the privilege of knowing him.
One of the things that made Michael especially unique was his connection with animals. He had a special way with them. Animals seemed to sense his gentle nature, and they were naturally drawn to him. Michael loved animals, and they loved him back. That bond was something special and a beautiful reflection of the tenderness in his heart.
Michael was also a believing Christian, and his faith was an important part of his life. Through the many challenges he faced, his faith gave him hope. His family finds comfort now in knowing that he is with his Lord and Savior and is finally at peace.
Twenty-one months ago, Michael suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident. The injury changed his life and brought with it many difficult complications. The months that followed were incredibly hard for Michael and for everyone who loved him. His life became a very different one, filled with challenges that he never should have had to face. Through it all, he remained deeply loved and cared for by his family.
While those final months were difficult, they are not what we want to remember most about Michael. We want to remember the man he was—the brother who loved, the son who was cherished, the uncle who was loved by his nieces and nephew, the friend who was willing to give of himself, and the gentle soul who had a special place in his heart for animals.
Michael is survived by his parents, Randy and Mary; his sisters, Jennifer and Becky; his nieces, Ava and Annika; his nephew, Jack; and his brother-in-law, Robert. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
We grieve because we miss him, but we take comfort in our faith and in the hope that this separation is not forever.
Michael is now at peace, in the presence of his Savior.
