

Mildred Elaine Hansen’s life journey on earth ended peacefully in her sleep at 93 years young on June 12, 2026 in Englewood, Colorado. Millie, as she was known to her friends, was born on August 23, 1932, in Noble, Oklahoma, to Loyd Whittaker Sterling Tarpley and Lydia Geraldine (Hoover) Tarpley. She moved with her family to Clovis NM, then to Belen NM, where she graduated from Belen High School. She attended the University of New Mexico (UNM), where she graduated with a Business Administration degree and was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. While there, she met her husband Kenneth Hansen (Ken)and they were married on May 30, 1955. Millie supported Ken as he pursued his long and successful career in Civil Engineering, and together they raised two sons, Bruce and Scott. As a result of her love and support, both sons were well educated and had highly successful careers. Millie also worked as a registered Real Estate Broker for a number of years. She enjoyed traveling with Ken, playing Bridge with friends, and watching sports, especially her beloved UNM Lobos. Both Millie and Ken have been members of Bethany Lutheran Church, located in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado since the early 1970’s.
Millie is survived by her husband Kenneth Hansen of 71 years, her sister Linda Jacquez of Los Lunas, NM, her eldest son Bruce Hansen and his wife Bong, her younger son Scott Hansen and his wife Olivia along with their two children Marc and Carla Hansen.
A Funeral Service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church (ELCA), 4500 E Hampden Ave, Cherry Hills Village, CO 80113, on June 27, 2026, at 11:30 am followed by a time of reception and fellowship.
A Committal Service will be held at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 6601 South Colorado Blvd, Centennial, CO 80121, on June 27, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
