Born on October 29, 1970, to Bill and Jean Ann Humphrey, Monte grew up as the middle son between his brothers James and Jared. Some of his favorite childhood memories were made at Bandimere Speedway, where his parents took the family to participate in drag racing—sparking a lifelong love of cars, speed, and the thrill of the track.
Monte graduated from Englewood Alternative High School and later met the love of his life, Cheryl, whom he married on September 26, 1998. Together they welcomed two children, Skylar and Evan, who were truly his pride and joy. Monte’s world revolved around his family and friends; he was happiest when he was with them.
Monte had a vibrant personality and a style all his own, often wearing a Miami Vice–style jacket when not wearing his cowboy boots and hat. His interests were just as unique: he was an avid collector of Star Wars memorabilia and Dale Earnhardt items, passions that brought him joy throughout his life. He also loved country music, which often accompanied him on his many adventures.
One of Monte’s favorite traditions was taking Cheryl, Skylar and Evan to Lake Granby for fishing and camping—a cherished pastime that he learned as a child and proudly passed on to his own children.
Monte is survived by his parents, Bill and Jean Ann Humphrey; his wife, Cheryl Humphrey; his beloved children, Skylar Humphrey and Evan Humphrey; his brothers James (Linda) Humphrey and Jared (Jennifer) Humphrey; and nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold his memory close.
