Muriel L. Corey

Muriel Corey was born on May 21, 1927. She was born to Phillip and Lesa Traversie outside of Timber Lake, South Dakota. Muriel grew up on a on a farm inside the Cheyanne River Indian reservation. She had 4 siblings, Bud, Alice, Kathleen and Carolyn. After high school she moved to Rapid City South Dakota where she attended business school. She met and married Ray L Corey there and they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Having a husband in the military Muriel got to move around a lot, taking her to Wichita Kansas where she gave birth to her daughter Barbara, Grand Junction and later Denver, CO. She worked in Real Estate and for FEMA for years. She loved all of her family and was always there if someone needed anything. She spent her days before Christmas making her famous fudge for everyone. She loved playing cards and gambling in Blackhawk, CO. always winning a little here and there. Muriel was a great friend and loved being around people. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was always passionate about her Indian heritage and full of stories from her childhood of living on the reservation and what that was like for her being a white, Indian red head. Later in her life Muriel moved to Haxtun, CO. where she was able to spend time with her daughter, grandkids, and grandchildren. She was able to make special memories being closer to her family.

Muriel spent her last days surrounded by her grandchildren until her last breath was taken on October 27,2025. She was loved dearly by many and left precious memories behind that forever will be treasured.

Muriel is survived by her sister Kathleen Matson, son in Law Rick Ensminger, granddaughter Kelly Price, Abby Henry, and Grandson Michael Ensminger and wife Rebecca, several great-grandchildren and nieces/nephews. She is proceeded in death by her Daughter Barbara Ensminger, parents Philip and Lesa, sisters Carolyn and Alice, and her brother Bud.

A graveside service will be held on December 6, 2025, from 1:00 pm Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 7777 W 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033
