Nick was born on August 11,1925, in Hays, Kansas, to Nicholas and Anna Casper. The fifth of ten children, Nick served as an alter boy in the Episcopal Church in Kansas. At the age of 13, Nick traveled to Phoenix, Arizona, to serve as an assistant to Bishop Mize. Nick joined the US Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. During World War II, Nick jumped into Italy, Holland, and Germany. He also fought in France and Belgium. After the war, Nick was Honorably Discharged from the Army, and awarded 3 Bronze Stars. On November 11, 1946, Nick married Margo Malouff in La Junta, Colorado. They raised four children, Kitti, Nick, Cathie, and Bob, and provided a temporary home to eight foster children. Nick worked as a salesman, and his territory encompassed Colorado, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Texas, and Wyoming. Margo and Nick were charter members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, and most recently, Nick contributed handmade rosaries to the Rosary Makers group. Nick was an avid fisherman who also loved flying and traveling. Nick passed away on August 7,2012. His wife Margo preceded him in death, in 2005. Nick is survived by brothers Jim and Sam Casper, sister Theona Burgardt, children Kitti, Nick, Cathie, and Bob, ten grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Rosary Services will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 5:00 p.m./ 7:00 p.m. Monday August 13th.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 14th.
Interment will be followed at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery. Reception will be at St. Thomas More Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m.
