Ollia May was born in Roswell, New Mexico to Henry Amos and Gladys George Ashcraft. Her
parents lived a life dedicated to their faith in Jesus Christ and passed this on to Ollia May where she lived her life dedicated to Jesus, as well.
Ollia May graduated from Roswell High School and then worked for the Mountain States Telephone Company. She sang in the choir at First Baptist Church where she met Grayden Jerome “Tam” Snowden. At the time, Tam was stationed at Walker Air Force Base in Roswell
and shortly after were married on February 14, 1954.
Their first daughter Nanci was born in Roswell and then they moved to Youngstown, Ohio where three more daughters Kathy, Tami and Judy were born. In 1967, they made their forever home in Littleton, Colorado.
Once her daughters were all in elementary school, Ollia May began a career in the medical field. She was the office administrator for several doctors’ offices, and was an expert in medical billing. This experience gave her the opportunity to become the Director of Admissions at Aurora Regional Medical Center and the Doctor’s Hospital. She retired from the medical field in 1992 and began a second career as a Mary Kay Consultant until the age of 85.
Ollia May was very active and had a love for sports including: bowling, tennis, softball, swimming and poker. She was a star softball pitcher in the South Suburban softball league.
She loved her church, Calvary Baptist Church of Denver, where she served and sang in
the choir for more than 50 years.
There were many things Ollia May loved, but her heart was devoted to being a wife to her beloved husband Tam, being a mom to four daughters, a Gram to 10 grandchildren, and Gram-Gram and Mammo to seven great-grandchildren.
Ollia May was preceded in death by her husband, Tam Snowden; her parents Henry and Gladys Ashcraft, her sisters Lula Marie and Erma Gene, brother Wilburn Ray, and her son-in-law Joe Campbell.
