Peggy Pauline Abrams Rolf passed from this life to her new eternal life in heaven on Sunday, October 12, 2025 at the age of 99. She had been in hospice care at the Mill Vista Lodge at Wind Crest for four months and died peacefully.
Peggy was born on June 28, 1926 to Frank and Myrtle Abrams on their farm in Iuka, Kansas. She was the youngest of five children which included three sisters; Anna Isabel Kutz, Elizabeth Griffin and Virginia Feaster and a brother, James Abrams, known as “Jimmer”. She attended grade school in Iuka and graduated from Pratt County High School in Pratt, Kansas. She was known as a spelling champion and enjoyed being a member of a 4-H club and active in the Christian and Methodist churches in Iuka.
She worked in the Iuka State Bank until she married Floyd Rolf on October 21, 1945. Floyd worked for the federal government so the family moved many times. Floyd retired from Washington, DC in 1980 and they moved back to Colorado. Peggy was employed as a secretary and library assistant at different places and retired from Aspen Labs in Denver. In 2007, they purchased an apartment at Wind Crest and lived there until they ”graduated to heaven”.
After both Floyd and Peggy retired they enjoyed traveling with friends and relatives in Europe, Canada and the South Pacific including Australia. They had a winter retirement home in Arizona for ten years and often entertained friends. Peggy enjoyed playing golf with a ladies foursome and was on the putting team at Wind Crest. She and Floyd were active in the Christian Fellowship group at Wind Crest which met every Sunday evening. They participated in many of the activities at Wind Crest and enjoyed dining with friends and playing games. Peggy loved to work jigsaw puzzles and did the Word Jumble and crossword puzzle in the Denver Post almost every day to “keep her mind sharp”. It worked!
Both Peggy and Floyd had a deep faith in God and his Son, Jesus Christ, and were always devoted members of a church and served in many ways in these churches. They sought to show the love of Christ in their lives to others and always welcomed opportunities to share their faith.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband of 78 years, Floyd Rolf, and is survived by three daughters; Linda Rolf, Janice Vance (Daniel) and Barbara Johnson (David). She was a grandmother to Brad Johnson and great-grandmother to Carter, Blake and Avery Johnson. Peggy was a loving aunt to seven nieces and nine nephews.
Floyd and Peggy were longtime supporters and volunteers at Christian World Outreach and the family would appreciate donations to that organization in their honor.
