May 23,1932 - August 15, 2025
Peggy Sellers, after 93 well spent years, shuffled off this mortal coil and was escorted by white doves to her heavenly home on August 15, 2025.
She was born May 23, 1932, in Denver, Colorado, to Ted and Virgie Fitzgerald. Peggy grew up in a home on South Grant Street in Denver that is now recognized in the Historical Society records. Peggy was very active her entire life. She loved being involved in anything social; roller skating, playing the steel guitar in the Tip Top Teens’ band, babysitting, singing in choir at South High School, and excelling in her studies. She met the love of her life while playing with her band for a social dance.
She married her soul mate, John Sellers, on November 6, 1950. They were blessed with a son, Dean, on November 12, 1951, and a daughter, Becky, on November 6, 1956. Peggy was the den mother for Dean’s boy scouts den, and the room mother for Becky’s Elementary classes. She was highly involved in her church in her later adult life, volunteering in the office of her church for 23 years. In retirement, Peggy was involved in resident ambassadorship at Brookdale-Meridian, where she also assisted in running the general store and countless other resident support roles and activities.
Peggy was blessed with, and survived by, her daughter, Becky, and three grandchildren: Amanda (Sorensen) Hoskins (Tom), Melanie (Sorensen) Jones (Jared), and Deanna (Sorensen) (spouse); and seven Great-Grandchildren: Romin (Alexia), Alexander , AshLynn , Callum , Sarah , Isaiah , and Damian. Family was Peggy’s pride and joy. Peggy is also survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins, who never questioned Peggy’s love, as Peggy never missed a birthday or Christmas card.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, John Sellers, son, Roy Dean Sellers, parents, Ted and Virgie Fitzgerald, brother, Roy Fitzgerald (Evelyn), and sister, Mildred (Fitzgerald) Smith. Also by her brother-in-law, Don Sellers, who was like a son to Peggy and John.
A joyful send off for Peggy will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, 6281 W. Yale Ave, Lakewood, CO 80227, on August 22,2025 at 2 pm, following the private interment that morning.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Peggy’s honor be sent to Atonement Lutheran Church, 6281 W. Yale Ave, Lakewood, CO 80227.
