Richard "Dick" Moog
June 5, 1925 – November 21, 2012
Richard Dana Moog, 87, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away on November 21, 2012 at Porter Hospice. Dick was the second son of Andrew and Esther Moog and was born in in Eveleth Minnesota. He attended public schools and was "Top Boy" of his high school in 1943, where he was also voted most likely to succeed. Dick entered the US Navy after high school, was commissioned in 1946 and served at the Coco Solo Naval Air Base in the Panama Canal Zone during the Second World War. After the war, Dick was an Aeronautical Engineering instructor at the University of Minnesota. He later went to work for Braniff International Airways, Texas Instruments, North American Aviation and Lockheed Martin. While at Lockheed Martin, he worked on both the Viking Mars Lander and the Space Shuttle programs. Dick counted among his most important accomplishments that he and his wife Nancy raised three wonderful children: David Richard Moog, Marti Louise Woo and Susan Fletcher (Tony) Derrow. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Liana Woo, Jessica Derrow and Joshua Derrow and his siblings Robert Moog, Roberta Moog and Marilyn vanOppen. Friends and family may call at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary on Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 9:30-10:00 am where a funeral service will follow at 10:00am, officiated by Reverend Don Bird.
