Our beloved Richard Kenneth Richey, “Ken” to his family and friends, passed away at his home on October 10, 2021, with his wife of fifty-six years, Bonnie, and daughter, LeeAnn Morrill, by his side. He is missed more than words can say.
Ken was born in Flat Rock, Alabama on May 11, 1944, and after being honorably discharged from service in the U.S. Army he resided for many years in Homewood, Illinois. After decades of hard work as an industrial maintenance and experimental mechanic, Ken retired in 2006 and he and his wife moved to Thornton, Colorado in 2008 to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law, Rob Morrill. Ken greatly enjoyed his retirement years—he and his wife traveled extensively and went dancing every week, and he tended his yard and home, watched all of the sports, and was an active member of the Elks Lodge.
In addition to his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, Ken is survived by his sisters, Patricia Posey and Charlotte Richey, brother, David Richey, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James G. and Rosa Lee Richey, and brothers, Jimmy G. Richey, Charles Richey, and James Richey.
A private service will be held for Ken at Olinger Chapel Hill on November 10, 2021.
