After graduating from Eastern High School in Lansing, Michigan, Dick joined the Air Force, serving from July 1958 to April 1963. He then went to work for Michigan State University, where he later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976. Dick went on to attend Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio, and was ordained into the Lutheran Church on July 9, 1978. He went on to serve Lutheran churches in Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Colorado.
Dick is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ann Marie Schwenkmeyer; his grandson, Travis Ryan Nicoletti; and his son-in-law, Glen Nicoletti.
He was preceded in death by his son, Tracy Lee Schwenkmeyer; his daughter, Kimberly Kay Nicoletti; and his granddaughter, Kristin Michelle Nicoletti.
A memorial service will be held, Thursday, September 24th at 11:00am, at Abiding Hope Church, 6337 S Robb Way, Littleton, CO 80127, with reception to follow. A committal service will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery the same day, at 2:30 pm.
