He attended St. Thomas Seminary in Denver, CO, and after one year God called him out of clergy and into family/business life. He finished his bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting and a minor in Economics at St Benedict’s College in Atchison, KS. One week following graduation, he married the love of his life, Sheila Frances Othic, from North Kansas City, MO on June 13, 1964.
His work career began at Sears in their Controller Training Program in 1964. After 12 years, he resigned as Accounting Group Controller. In 1976, he then accepted a position as Vice President of Operations and Finance of a wholesale Distribution Company in Denver, CO. In 1978, he formed a partnership and successfully developed and installed software packages for wholesale distribution companies. The company was sold in 1981. In 1982 after months of prayer and introspection, he and Sheila began a new direct response communications company called The Product Line (TPL). The company was comprised of an Inbound 800# Division, an Outbound Telemarketing Operations Division and Fulfillment Center. The call center grew to over 500 employees in two locations: Denver and La Junta, CO. The company managed client websites and the TPL Fulfillment Center shipped orders. The company was sold in 2000, and he and Sheila retired in May 2002.
