Biography

Robin Curran Squires was a natural leader whose winning presence allowed him to take control of various situations with ease. Equipped with a clear and calculating focus, he possessed a tough-minded, “take charge” attitude. He had the ability to make even routine situations seem exciting, and he was at ease with the role of playing problem solver. Robin always sought out the scene of where the action was. Sociable, analytical, and tenacious, Robin was an individual who enjoyed life’s challenges.

His parents were Ivan and Martha Squires. Robin was born in Billings, Montana and raised in Twin Falls, Idaho and Beaverton, OR. Always able to express himself well, Robin possessed strong interpersonal skills. He was generally optimistic in his outlook on life and tended to be open and direct in his communication. Armed with a great wit, Robin was raised to be accepting of others and to implement a strong personal work ethic.

. Robin was raised with four siblings. He had two older brothers, Raoul and Jonathan, one older sister, Julie, and one younger sister, Jana. Robin had a strong desire to be treated fairly and would readily offer others the same fairness in return.

As a young child, Robin showed his creative ability in many ways. He was outgoing and animated. Robin enjoyed new activities and pursued a variety of interests. He took part in some football. He was a singer in various select ensembles throughout high school. In his spare time he liked to read and learn things - At one point in his youth, he read through an entire world book encyclopedia set

Known to others as a focused, logical, and driven individual, Robin was able to utilize these qualities to succeed in high school as in the rest of his life. His curious nature was spurred by his ability to maximize his personal learning style through employing a hands-on approach. He was good with facts and had an excellent memory. He graduated from Sunset High School in 1975. As a consummate performer, his favorite class in high school was likely Choir. He was also selected to attend a session of the Oregon legislature in Salem, OR by virtue of Robin's high GPA and popularity among the school faculty.

When the goal of college was in sight, it became important to Robin. Again, his direct, “down to earth” approach and tenacity served him well. He was able to absorb complex concepts and had an acute sense of how things worked. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in religion. His favorite courses were psychology and philosophy.

On August 8th, 1981 Robin exchanged wedding vows with Linda Gail Nielson at the Washington Park United Methodist Church of Denver, Colorado. Throughout their Marriage, Robin remained a dedicated family man, providing nurturing, wisdom, discipline and a lot of love to his kids.

Very much like a kid himself, Robin identified with the inquisitive and creative side of his children’s personalities. He was able to direct his energy and spontaneity towards helping his children acquire added common sense skills. Robin was blessed with three children: Nate , Raleigh, and Dylan. He was also blessed with seven grandchildren, Caley, Lacey, Zandr, Seamus, Delaney, Emma, and Elijah.

Robin was a flexible worker who was able to draw the best from others around him. A persuasive individual who was quick to make necessary decisions, Robin’s strengths included being able to think on his feet. He could be a leader who sought impact for his decisions. Gifted with an incredible ability to persuade, Robin was able to positively manipulate situations and motivate others in order to get a task completed. He was a good negotiator who enjoyed new challenges. Robin could multi-task, and he was endowed with entrepreneurial spirit, allowing him to think beyond standard norms when it came to resolving issues in his work environment. His primary occupation was as an executive search consultant for the cable and telecom industry.

Robin enjoyed his leisure time usually with his family. His favorite pursuits were sailing, vacationing, and debate. He genuinely wanted to share his interests and passions with his family and modeled a way of enjoying life through a "Work hard first, THEN play even harder" ethic.

Robin was a generous man who prized that same quality in others. Politically, Robin was fairly conservative, but was more of an issues voter than a party voter.

Robin held close traditional values and as a result, faith was important to him. He was a member of Washington Park United Methodist Church for roughly 20 years, and was a member of Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church in Parker, Colorado for several years as well. During that time, he was actively involved in Choir at both churches.

Travel and vacations were experiences that Robin truly enjoyed. He preferred to seek out excitement wherever he went and he was partial to vacations that were casual and laid back with an atmosphere of “live and let live.” He was willing to leave his plans open and flexible, just in case something more interesting came along. Favorite vacations included a sailing trip to the Virgin Islands, an Alaskan Cruise, a budget road trip throughout Colorado ,and a Train trip in the Canadian Rockies. But one cannot overlook the family's consistent vacation spot at Lake McConaughy, in Nebraska. Many wonderful memories were made there.
