Ronald David entered this life on April 25, 1949, to Mark and Delores Hallam in Passaic, New Jersey. Ron’s greatest love and passion as a child was Boy Scouts where his father was his scoutmaster. Ron earned the prestigious Eagle Scout Award. He loved telling the story of how his first interview with BorgWarner was secured after 45 minutes of sharing his scouting adventures. After graduating from Central Connecticut State University, Ron began his career as a Sales Engineer distributing equipment to refineries in the petroleum and bauxite industries. In the early 90’s, Ron was offered the opportunity to relocate to Sarasota, Florida to cover the Caribbean and southwestern states for BorgWarner. Since he never lost his memories of time spent on the Jersey Shore, the decision to walk the beach and shield “the zippers” on his knees from sports injuries he suffered in the Northeast cold was hardly met with hesitation. He never looked back. Dancing, golfing, tennis and singing Doo- Wop occupied his life in the precious and infrequent moments that he wasn’t on a hopper to some island.
At a very early age Ron was introduced to real estate investments from his mother’s employer. When he could no longer stand the small flights in borderline hurricane weather, he retired to focus on his real estate turnaround business and venture capital opportunities.
Ron’s life changed drastically on a starry night in 2009 when he met Joyce Marie Dalbey at Big Sugar’s where they danced the jitterbug together. Many people know her by Ali, which was his nickname for her because she reminded him of Ali MacGraw. After never being married, Ron became husband to Joyce on July 19, 2015 surrounded by the love of family, friends and the majesty of the red rocks located at Roxborough State Park in Colorado. Ron instantly became a husband, father and grandfather to Joyce’s children, John, Michelle, Joshua and Jacob. His grandchildren, who would refer to him as “Pop”, are Michael John, Hunter, Tony and the joy of his life, Tessa Rae.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by two brothers Mark Hallam Jr. who resides in Vermont; Albert (Angela) Hallam; who resides in New Jersey and his sister Gayle (Robert) Carmichael in Michigan. He also has many nieces and nephews whom he held close to heart over the years. His favorite memories are the times they spent together, cheering “Go Blue” during Michigan football games.
Ron was full of happiness, joy and pride over his new life. He is loved deeply and the absence of his overall excitement of life will greatly be missed by everyone he encountered. An additional memorial service will be held in New Jersey at a later date.
