She was born on July 5, 1930 to Harold and Ruth Maurer (Mathis), in Chicago, Illinois. Shirley graduated in 1948 from Peoria High School in Peoria, Illinois. She graduated from Central Airlines School in Kansas City, MO in 1951.She married Harold (Duke) Pelham in Denver, Colorado on November 22, 1958.
Shirley moved to Denver in 1951 to work at United Airlines and was employed with them as an Administrative Assistant from 1951 until she retired in 1981. She loved to play tennis and enjoyed fishing, gardening, dancing, and traveling. Shirley attended St. Andrews Methodist Church in Highlands Ranch, CO.
Shirley is survived by her step children Timothy Pelham of Grand Junction, CO and Linda Pelham (Phillip Bell) of Broomfield, CO. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, step children, (Joseph Pelham and Pamela Tolley), brother James Maurer, and sister Connie Morgan.
