Shirley Jo Shamlin, peacefully passed away in October, 2020 after a long battle with cancer. Shirley was born in Denver, CO in 1941 to Carrie and Fred Glenn. Shirley married Wayne Shamlin at Forbes Air Force Base, Topeka, KS in 1962. Though born in Denver and passed in Denver she spent most of her life in Everett, Washington. She retired from Banking in 1993 to enjoy her grandchildren. Shirley’s time with her grandchildren included weekend sleepovers, camping, vacations, and teaching them to sew and bake. Leaving an indelible mark on them with the simple saying, “We are, because you were”.
Her Mother, Father and Sister preceded Shirley in death. Her husband Wayne, daughter Karrie Laughlin (Kent), son Jerry Shamlin (Linda) and four grandchildren Aerika, Emily (Cameron), Glenn and Alexis (Chris), and two great granddaughters Emma and Addison survive Shirley. Shirley requested no services but will be interred at Fort Logan. Should you wish to send flowers, Shirley requested contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
Life is not a journey to the grave, with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming... “Wow! What a ride!” Hunter Thompson
