Stephen Edward Ganza

Stephen Edward Ganza, 54, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away on August 29, 2026, following a brief and unexpected illness. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, on February 7, 1972, Steve was the beloved son of Edward William Ganza and the late Carol Ann Ganza.

Steve leaves behind his devoted wife of nearly 25 years, Wendy Ganza (Creech); his father, Edward William Ganza of Erie, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Mercedes Friewald of Erie, Pennsylvania; his granddaughter, Alyssa; his brother, Edward “Pautch” Ganza of Union City, Pennsylvania; his sister, Karolynn Ganza of Apache Junction, Arizona; and his sister, Adrienne McCrory (Ganza) of Cranesville, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Ann Ganza (Zaczyk).

Steve had an infectious, sly smile and a quick, unmistakable sense of humor. He loved to tell stories and made friends everywhere he went. Whether you had known him for decades or had just met him, Steve had a rare gift—he made you feel like an old friend within minutes. He was generous with his time, loyal to the people he loved, and always ready to help anyone who needed him.

He loved his dogs fiercely, riding his motorcycle with his face in the wind, trekking his OHV through the Colorado mountains on any trail he could find, and spending time with his many friends. The mountains were his second home, a place where he felt most himself. His love of camping was more than a hobby—it was where he found peace under open skies, connection with nature, and quiet moments shared with the people he loved.

Steve had a lifelong passion for aviation and space and was an avid amateur astronomer. He rarely missed a meteor shower or celestial event, and in his final years he found joy in capturing the night sky through astrophotography, sharing those images proudly with his family and friends.

A dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan and a loyal Colorado Avalanche supporter, Steve celebrated every victory with enthusiasm—especially the Eagles’ Super Bowl win and the Avalanche’s recent Stanley Cup championship. Sports were another way he connected with people—always ready with a joke, a prediction, or a spirited debate.

Steve’s presence was larger than life, and his absence leaves a space that cannot be filled. His stories, his laughter, and his love will remain with all who knew him.

A Celebration of Life for Steve is planned in Littleton, Colorado, for September 25, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. (RSVP required). Those wishing to attend may contact Wendy for details. Friends and family will be encouraged to share their favorite stories about Steve, and those unable to attend may send memories to be read at the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Steve’s memory to the animal rescue of your choice. Steve would be honored to share his love of rescue dogs in that way.
