Virginia Ann Nimrod, known to many as Ann, passed away on June 16th in Denver, Colorado. She was 89 years old. Ann was born in Kit Carson to Oliver and Alice Gray. Her family moved to Englewood, Colorado while she was young, and Ann graduated from Englewood High School. Ann was incredibly smart, and taught herself secretary work. She had her son, Daniel, and daughter, Linda, while she lived in Englewood. While working for Navaho Freight Lines as a secretary she met Merlin Nimrod, who captured her heart. Merlin and Ann were married at Augustana Lutheran Church 45 years ago. Together they raised their children in Denver, Colorado.
Ann loved her rose bushes, and was a great gardener. She had an astounding collection of glass paper weights, and loved to read crime dramas, she was also an avid art collector. Every Mother's day, she and her daughter in law, Becky, would travel to Santa Fe, New Mexico to visit the art district and bring home beautiful pieces. Virginia retired from working as a personal secretary for Phillip Anschutz, a job which she delighted in. She was a bright spirit, full of hope and love. She raised 5 children, 2 of whom were her own, and 3 girls who came with Merlin. Ann was a long time member of Augustana Lutheran Church, and she and Merlin were active. They swam at the YMCA 3 days a week with the Silver Sneakers Club.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents, and daughter, Michelle. She is survived by her beloved husband, Merlin; amazing children, Daniel, Linda, Kim, and Pat; adored grandchildren, Katy, Patrick, Kyle, Cody, Alice, and Jessica; her many sweet great-grandchildren; and her sister, Julia "Midg". Ann will be truly missed and fondly remembered.
