Wayne Eldon Hamilton was born on August 22, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas to Joseph & Edna Hamilton and entered his heavenly home on August 9, 2024. At age 4, he moved with his parents and sister to Denver and graduated from South High School in 1960.
At an early age he decided on mortuary science as his career and while in high school worked part time at Moore Mortuary in Denver. He attended the University of Minnesota where he graduated with an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science. He then worked full time at Moore Mortuary. He joined the Army Reserves and served 1964-1970.
In 1965 he married Margene Merkle in lowa. He was always interested in mechanical workings, and in 1966 he decided on a new career with National Cash Register Company (NCR) where he worked for 28 years, fixing cash registers, bank machines, and various other machines in Grand Junction and Denver, Colorado.
After his retirement from NCR, he worked at several other "fun" jobs until his final retirement. Two sons were born in Grand Junction, Steven in 1968 and Dale in 1971.
Wayne was active in his church in Englewood and in Grand Junction. He enjoyed music and sang in a quartet in high school and in various choirs over the years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Margene, sons Steven (Diana) of Dallas, Texas, Dale (Leslie) of Loveland, Colorado, grandsons Kyle, Tyler and Connor, and sister Virginia (Richard) of Bailey, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church located at 6500 E. Girard Ave Denver, CO 80224.
