

Wayne is survived by his wife of 77 years, Dorothea Littrell; his daughters, Pat (Dick) Flagg, of Littleton, CO, Marilyn (Gary) Hollenbaugh of Parachute, CO and Linda (Bob) Brown of Littleton, CO; his grandchildren, Mike (Kathy) Flagg of Milton, GA, Molly Flagg of Denver, CO, Jeff (Mary Lewis) Hollenbaugh of Marble, CO, Brian (Abby) Hollenbaugh of Glenwood Springs, CO and his great grandchildren, Abbi and Elli Flagg of Milton, GA, Chloe and Sam Hollenbaugh of Glenwood Springs, CO.
Wayne was born in Wakefield, NE of February 5, 1920 to Earl and Etta Littrell. As one of 8 children of a Methodist minister, Wayne grew up in several small towns throughout Nebraska. He graduated from Randolph High School in 1938 and then managed the Littrell Roller Rink where he met his future wife. Wayne and Dorothea were married on March 24, 1940 in Giltner, NE. During WWII they lived in San Diego, CA where he served honorably in the United States Navy. At the end of the war they moved to Denver, CO where he began his long and successful career with the University of Denver as Director of Security & Services. Wayne was also a student at DU, earning his degree in 1965. In 1971 they moved to Evanston, IL where he established a Department of Public Safety for Northwestern University, which he directed until his retirement in 1978.
After retirement Wayne and Dorothea enjoyed summers at the cabin they’d built near Blackhawk, CO and winters in Mission, TX. Wayne was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and active member of the Model-T Club in Denver, CO and attended University Park Methodist Church.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, July 7, 2017 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary. Graveside services will be followed by a reception.
