Wendy Monique Wilbur-Carpenter, loving daughter, sister, niece, auntie and cousin, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Skyridge Hospital in Lone Tree, CO at the age of 44 surrounded by the love of her family.
Born to Stephen and Melanie Wilbur on November 15, 1980 in Englewood, CO., she had one sister, Stephaine Wilbur and two brothers, Brian (Holly) Wilbur and Brett (Cassie) Wilbur.
Monique grew up in Littleton, CO in the Littleton and Cherry Creek school districts where she played soccer, sang beautifully in the Choir and was a Girl Scout.
Monique attended Cherry Creek High School and earned her bachelor’s degree and became a Message Therapist before pursuing her Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Beginning in 2011, Monique embarked on a dedicated career in pharmacy, passionately serving others as a pharmacist with expertise and compassion.
She had a love for her country and was a strong patriot. She aspired to be in the Navy and was in the ROTC program and completed her training at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs. She was proud of her older brother, Brian’s Marine Corp service and visited him many times.
Monique was in a child beauty pageant and won “Most Photogenic” and naturally knew how to pose in front of the camera. She was a natural and made everyone around her smile, even at a young age.
Steve and Melanie loved to share boating and camping with their kids. On the first nice day of spring, when Monique was in first grade, Melanie took her and Brian out of school for a “family emergency” – the emergency was to have a special day of jet skiing and memories with family. They loved to boat and jet ski as a family.
Monique loved to travel. A few highlights were a cruise around Hawaii with Brian and her grandparents when she was 11, many RV trips in the motorhome where she learned how to play dominos (she loved board games) and an Alaskan cruise with her parents.
She was married on February 13, 2015 – The date was selected by Monique in honor of her Poppy’s birthday. She was very close to her Poppy, Mel White and Grammie (Honey) Connie White. Monique is smiling down that we are celebrating her life on this very day as family and special dates meant the world to her and she will be reunited with Jesus on Poppy’s birthday.
Monique loved to dance. In her college years you could find her at the Grizzly Rose line dancing with friends. She won a dance competition for her West Coast Swing dance skills. She also loved to fish, hunt and camp and being in the outdoors. She spent many days in nature and felt close to God during these times. She was proud to purchase land in Fairplay, CO and own a piece of peace.
Monique’s pride and joy were her two dogs, Koda and Kattia. They were her “fur-babies” and she loved them very much. They never went a day without special treats and lots of love.
Monique was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church and her catholic faith helped her through the tough times life throws at us all.
Something everyone knew about Monique; she had a deep love for her family. Whether she was going on a fishing trip with her mom and dad, going on a cruise with her sister and niece, going to Disney with her Auntie and family or setting aside a special playroom in her home for her nieces and nephews, she loved being near family and was always pushing us to be closer together.
A true Halloween aficionado, Monique transformed every October into a season of mischief and fun. Her legendary Halloween parties were nothing short of spectacular. She had a gift for bringing people together, creating a space where everyone felt welcome.
Monique was a constant source of laughter and light. Her kindness, humor, and knack for making every moment special will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Monique is survived by her parents, Steve and Melanie Wilbur of Centennial, brother Brian Wilbur and wife Holly of Parker, brother Brett Wilbur and Cassie Lucier of Castle Rock, sister Stephanie Wilbur of Centennial.
Monique is also survived by a loving Auntie Valorie Santino and husband Michael, Aunt Margaret Wilbur and Uncle James Wilbur and wife Sandy, cousins (who were more like nephew and niece in their younger years and sister and close friend in later years) William Santino (Monique was his Godmother) and Michaela Santino Dawson and husband Josef, Heather Wilbur and Zack Wilbur, and second cousin, Diane White.
