Bill and I shared many memories from junior high thru high school at Arapahoe. We were city boys acting like cowboys while working on a ranch in Wyoming. We threw hay bails all summer and shared the bunk house with other cowboys. We experienced Cheyanne Frontier Days from a ranch hand’s perspective. At Arapahoe I was the center to Bill the quarterback. 
I know the Lord has his loving arms around Bill in heaven.

I used to see Bill at Littleton golf course, and we would chat about golf.  He mentioned one day that if we ever go to southern Colorado we should play Four Mile Canyon Golf Course near Canyon City.  He said that they operated out of a trailer instead of an actual pro shop. It didn't look very serious, but the course would seem exceptional to us.  About a week later my husband and I  were traveling in the south and stopped to play Four Mile Canyon.   Loved the course as much as Bill did!
When we returned to Littleton I went to the Littleton golf course to tell Bill that we had played the course and to share my enthusiasm about our lovely high-scoring game on the course.  He had passed away.  What a shock!  He had seemed healthy, happy and alert when he had told me about it.  I never was able to talk to him about that great day we enjoyed.  So sad that he never knew.

I was dismayed of hearing of Bill's passing.        Bill was special and I know many people are going to miss him.
I have a special memory of Bill; my family moved from Colorado Springs to Littleton beginning of tenth grade.      I knew no one.      Two weeks after school started, we were in the locker room after gym and Bill came over and put his hand on my shoulder, "John, I know you are new and I know it is hard for you but it gets better.     Just be yourself, as if you were in your former school and it will get better for you".      And it did.       Bill and I ran in different circles in school but it never stopped Bill saying "hi" and "how are you doing".      I always appreciated him for that.       Having not seen each other for a long time, at out 50th reunion, there was a tap on my shoulder and I turned around to a smiling face . . ."how are you doing John?
We all know Bill as an exceptional person, VERY EXCEPTIONAL!

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of my favorite High School teacher, Bill Krape. He was truly a wonderful person and devoted educator.  Throughout the years I would run into him and he would always stop to ask how I was. I’m forever thankful for having known him.  A great guy gone too soon. 

On a beautiful Colorado morning, Bill was walking by the house, I introduced him to my son Dan who was visiting me; I was surprised to hear Bill say, "You and I have something in common, we both have a French mother."  Bill further indicated  that the relatives  were from  northern  France.    To this day, I wonder about the French connection.   Do they know about Bill's passing?
 
Looking back, I should have asked more questions.

Kathy and family, I love you and want to be a source of strength for you during this most painful time.

I have fond memories of working at Runners Roost in Highlands Ranch with Bill during my college years.  I felt very privileged to train Bill at Runners Roost when he first started there!  All of his coaching experience and exposure to running made him an amazing asset for the running store and running community.  Bill loved life, and he always made everyone laugh!  He was a very fun person!  I also remember Bill cheering me on as a HRHS track runner at the State track meets.
There is no doubt that Bill lived life to the fullest!  Thoughts and prayers are with all of his family and friends.

Mr Krape was one of my favorite teachers at Heritage H.S. His World Geography class was the best.  I have been working with his step son Nick for about 7 years.  It got us closer as co-workers.  When Nick and Katie got married, Mr Krape still remembered me after 26 years.  That is what a great person he was! Mr Krape is still in our hearts in spirit.  He is missed. 

I will always think of Bill fondly, whether it be yukking it up during the unending hours of registration, seeing him walk the halls of Heritage High School, team teaching in his U.S. History class, or encountering him on his bike by the Platte.

He always made me laugh - Hard.  He saw the humor, and the good, in everything.

And I will always remember him with a smile - and a tear, but mostly a smile.

Very saddened to learn of the departure from this life of my former high school teammate and stellar athlete.  So glad we had a chance to reconnect that the 50th reunion of the  1st graduating class of Arapahoe High School class of 1966!  One of my earliest recollections of Bill was in 10th Grade football practice.  Our sadistic coach decided to embarrass me by calling a play that sent Bill along with Brad Blunt and two ill-tempered offensive lineman right at my corner linebacker position. It didn't end well for me, take my word for it.  We also attended our beloved Western State College together.  Many condolences & blessings to the family and praying for another reunion in the Heavenly Jerusalem!


Bill was an amazing person! Many students and parents cherished his gifted talents as a teacher and coach. We first crossed paths with Bill in Gunnison at Western State College and again in Greeley at University of Northern Colorado.  We always enjoyed our visits with Bill at the Western Welcome Parade. Even though our children Kristin, Molly & Brent attended Highlands Ranch High School, they were in awe when Bill would come up to them at track meets to offer them encouragement and cheer them on. Bill was always a true gentleman, outstanding coach, and a valued friend. He was truly blessed with a beautiful family! He will be missed by all who crossed his path.

I have such fond memories of Bill, even thought I've been retired from Heritage High School for over 20 years.  He was always fun with colleagues and students and had a major impact on so many lives.  Bill smelled birthday cake in the air in the Foreign Language Department and regularly joined us for a piece of cake.  Always sensitive to the needs of his students, whether in his teaching or his coaching, Bill remained a constant presence.  I'm sure his good humor will remained in the hearts of his wife Kathy, his kids, and his grandkids.  He will be missed!

The world lost a great man, my father Bill Krape lost to a short battle with cancer. It caught us all by surprise and everything happened so fast. I’m happy he didn’t have to suffer long and left the world peacefully. He deserved that. I’m so happy I had the chance to say goodbye, tell him I loved him, and talk about everything we needed to talk about. 

My father loved everyone. Beyond his family and friends he loved all the thousands of kids he had the opportunity of teaching and coaching throughout the years. All of us HHS Eagles know what a positive influence he had on all of us. 

I love you Dad. Thank you for making this world a better place, serving your country, and being such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. We will miss you everyday. 

Your grandchildren loved you as much as you loved them. They called you Grandpa or Bapa depending on what the family decided but  Tyson, Maddox, Aiden, Rylee, and Brayden all love you and you always loved them unconditionally. You spent time with each and everyone of them and they will never forget the memories and impact you had on their lives. You are a great grandfather. 

You are a great father. You always knew what to say at exactly at the right time when we needed you most. Thank you for that. You were also a father figure for kids that might not have had one and that has been expressed from your students and athletes and they thank you for inspiring them to pay that forward to other kids that need that support. 

We all love you Dad, Grandpa, Bapa, Bill Krape, and Mr. Krape. We are all better people to have known you. We were blessed to have known you. Rest peacefully and we know you’ll be looking over each and every one of us always. Thank you for everything WE ALL LOVE YOU!!

Mr. Krape was my track coach from 1986-1989 and I will never forget how patient, kind, and caring he was.  I always enjoyed running into him around Littleton through the years.   He will be greatly missed. 

I worked with Bill at Frontier for almost five years.  He was ALWAYS kind and gentle.  Bill was funny and fun loving.  He really made others feel special.  What a wonderful man.  I used to make him scones on the Sunday shift and he LOVED them.  The world has lost a gentle soul.


I taught history with Bill at Heritage for a year before moving over to Arapahoe. We were “friendly” rivals as track coaches for many years. A true gentleman, great teacher/coach, and all-around class act. As an educator, the highest praise that can be given is that he was”good for kids”.  Bill was certainly that. What a profound loss. I’m grateful to have known Bill and to have had his friendship for many years. Our sincere condolences to Kathy and the entire family.

I had Mr. Krape for U.S. History way back in 1982. I remember liking him and his class very much. He made the class so interesting and was always so kind. One distinct memory I have is his teaching about the transcontinental railroad, and gently telling me how to correctly spell “guage” when I insisted it must be spelled “gauge.” 😅 When his face appears in my memory, he has brown hair and is smiling.

I went on to become a professional historian of the American West. So his legacy lives on in me and so many of those he taught. Thank you, Mr. Krape!

My deepest sympathy for the family. I have to say mr. Krape was my absolute favorite teacher and  track coach at Heritage High School. I attended 1985 through 1988.  I remember him passing me in the hallway at school, and asking me if I was ready to do the oral report in front of the class, I told him I was absolutely terrified of speaking in front of people. He then proceeded to tell me we'll go ahead and just turn it in as a written report. I don't want to make it worse for you. And he was always there at track meets encouraging me to do really well. I always remember him smiling and laughing, he always made the students feel comfortable around him. He truly was one of the coolest teachers I've ever had.  I am very sorry for your loss. He had an impact on people more than you know.

I loved working with Bill as one of his assistants with the Heritage High School girls track team from 1984-87. I learned a great deal  from him and we had some tremendous athletes who went on to place in the state track meets. But most importantly, I owe him a great deal of gratitude as he introduced me to my future husband at the Colorado state track coaches clinic on February 15, 1985 at Ft Collins High School.  I have been married to Tom Erickson for 30 years. Thank you, Bill! 

 Our favorite story of Bill is the golf lesson Tom Watson stopped to give him in Hawaii. Although he was an avid golfer and coach, he was willing to except a “tip“ from Tom Watson and without offering the pro golfer his own advice. 
        Bill  was a quiet gentlemen. A kind heart, a good soul. A welcome friend and companion. A fellow traveler on his life‘s journey.  A wonderful human being -  loving, caring, special, he will be greatly missed.  Bob and Cindy Christensen

I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I hope you will find a touch of comfort in knowing that I am thinking of you, his family and of Jim Fleuenor, his friend and mine. I know your memories of Bill will keep him close at heart. Such a good man. 

When we were in High School, Bill was a God at AHS. He was a great athlete, leader, and human being. In my life, he was on a pedestal, one of those too wonderful and too important to bother with me, a student whose life was wrapped around holding down two jobs and very minimally involved in AHS activities.  Then, to my shock, I met Bill as a fellow employee in the summer rec program of SSMPRD.  I was reticent to even talk to the "great man" of my high school years. So Bill broke the ice, introduced himself to me as if HE was the invisible guy in high school. We became close friends that summer,  and spent a lot of time together, sharing our love of teaching, coaching, and kids. The way he befriended me not only was a great experience in my life, but has always had a huge impact on the way I teach and guide kids to this day. I thank God that I was able to re-establish contact with Bill a couple of years ago and tell him what a difference his friendship meant to me. He truly was, A GREAT MAN.

I was so saddened to hear about Bill’s passing. He was a teaching and coaching mentor to me from the time that I first arrived at Heritage High School, and became a great friend.  Bill taught me so much about life in his humble and unassuming way. We have such fond memories of a winter break with Bill and Kathy in the Bahamas! I am absolutely stunned by the news of Bill's passing. We go back a long way. He was a student in my 9th grade English class. Bill was the personification of a gentleman. He contributed so much to his life. He was a constant source of help to his mother and sister. 


Bill was a talented athlete and great coach at Heritage High School. He ,also became a great teacher.


Bill Krape  was on of the finest men who traversed this earth.


He  married a wonderful woman, Kathy. My love and support goes to her right now.  


My knees are weak, and my stomach has an issue. My heart is broken for Kathy and the family.
