

Colonel William H. Van Schooneveld, a devoted family man, respected military officer, and accomplished businessman, passed away peacefully in Englewood, Colorado, on August 13, 2024, at the age of 103.
Born on April 11, 1921, in Sioux County, Iowa, Van lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love. He proudly served his country in the military for 22 years, achieving the rank of Colonel in the Marine Corps. His leadership, commitment and integrity were an inspiration to all who knew him.
After retiring from the military, Van pursued his passion for business, becoming a Certified Public Accountant. He went on to found Van Schooneveld and Company, an audit, tax and consulting firm known for its professionalism and excellence in serving its clients.
Van is survived by, and cherished time spent with his beloved wife, Mildred P. Van Schooneveld and the entire family, including three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his three sisters and two sons.
He loved the frequent trips to Cabo, Mexico, where he found great joy in the laughter of his family and the beauty and tranquility of the ocean. He had a passion for the storytelling and splendor of opera and a love for golf, enjoying the camaraderie and challenge the sport provided.
Colonel William H. Van Schooneveld leaves behind a legacy of service and love. A reminder that a life well-lived is one surrounded by family, marked by achievement, and filled with passion.
